Create a Roommate Profile
The Off-Campus Roommate Finder is a resource available exclusively to University of Toronto students to connect with classmates in search of shared housing accommodations.
After creating a roommate profile, you can filter potential matches by social habits, lifestyle preferences, cleanliness, move-in timeline, and more, and contact prospective roommates directly through this website.
Who can access the Roommate Finder?
In order to access the Roommate Finder, you must:
- Be a current student at the University of Toronto with a valid UTORid/JOINid and password
- Have an active student account on the Off-Campus Housing Website
- Have your own active roommate profile
If you have any questions regarding access to the Roommates section, contact our customer support team, and we'll be happy to assist you.
To create your profile:
- Sign in to your Student Account
- Don't have an account? You can register here.
- Go to Account Settings by selecting your name in the top-right corner (or in the top-left navigation menu on mobile devices)
- Under Roommates, select Add My Roommate Profile
- Complete each tab under My Roommate Profile, selecting Save & Continue after completing each tab
- Note: Sections with an asterisk (*) indicate required fields
- When all sections of your profile are complete, select Save & Continue, and then Finish & Turn on:
Manage Your Roommate Profile
You can edit your roommate profile at any time by going to Account Settings > Edit My Roommate Profile.
Profile Duration
Roommate profiles expire after 30 days. When your profile is about to expire, you will receive an email notice with a link to renew for another 30 days.
Turn Profile On/Off
You can change the status of your roommate profile at any time by going to Account Settings > Edit My Roommate Profile and selecting Active or Inactive from the drop-down menu:
To check when your account will expire, go to My Roommate Profile and look under your profile status drop-down at the top of the page.
Delete Your Profile
If you think you might need to find off-campus roommates again in the future, we suggest deactivating your profile rather than deleting it. This way, you can simply update your existing profile and save yourself some time.
However, you may also delete it altogether by scrolling to the bottom of the side navigation menu under Roommate Profile Settings and selecting Delete Profile.
Please note that, once deleted, roommate profiles cannot be restored, and you will no longer have access to your profile information.
Contact Information
Information entered in your roommate profile's "Contact" section is only visible to users who have completed their own roommate profiles.
You will receive messages from other roommates who contact you directly via email and through the off-campus site. Your email address will remain hidden unless you choose to reveal it.
Phone
Including your phone number is optional. To avoid displaying it, simply leave the Phone field empty.
Social Media
You have the option to include your Instagram, Facebook, Snapchat, and Twitter profiles, but this is not required.
Already have a place?
If you have already secured a rental unit and are seeking roommates to share it with, you can create a property listing and link it to your roommate profile.
Note: Please keep in mind that while your roommate profile will always remain private, your property listing will be visible not only to fellow students with active roommate profiles, but also to anyone browsing the housing search page.
Add a property listing to your roommate profile:
- Go to your Roommate Profile preferences
- Select Housing from the options on the left
- Select Add a Listing and share some information about your place
Once your listing is complete and activated, it will display as "Shared Housing" in the housing search page:
